She talks about the development of the National Rural and Remote Nursing Generalist Framework and what is needed to support rural nursing.

Michelle Rathman is is the founder of Impact Communications, Inc. a healthcare strategy and communications company. Since 1997 she has worked with rural health clinics, state offices of rural health and rural hospitals. Michelle helps facilitate transformation in healthcare settings across the US. She is also the host of the Rural Impact Podcast which tries to connect the dots between policy and rural issues.

Daniel Dawes, J.D. is a lawyer, author, scholar, educator and leader in health equity and health reform. His research focuses on the drivers of health inequities among under-resourced, vulnerable and marginalized communities, he has pioneered a new approach to examining inequities – the political determinants of health. Daniel was instrumental in shaping the Affordable Care Act in the US (also known as Obama Care) and chaired the National Working Group on Health Disparities and Health Reform.

Dr John Pawlovic is the Chair in Rural health with the University of British Columbia and a family doctor who has dedicated his career to improving the health of rural, remote and Indigenous communities. We will talk about an innovative project -the Real-Time Virtual Support network which aims to address inequitable access and barriers to healthcare faced by rural, remote and indigenous communities.

Major Dr Ashlesha Tawde-Kelkar is a rural doctor and army veteran from India.
During her uniformed service she was stationed between India and Pakistan and looked after the troops, as well as the rural and tribal populations in the area. She currently provides care to tribal communities in the Western ghats of Maharashtra.

Pippa Kensit is the Future Workforce Program Lead, and more recently Clinical Advisor at NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN). She has completed a Bachelor of Nursing and a dual Masters in International Public Health and Health Management. In 2021 she was accepted to Medicine at the University of Notre Dame, Sydney. She has extensive experience in rural advocacy roles and rural health clubs in Australia.
Brooke Mackie is a final year medical student at James Cook University based in North Queensland, Australia. Growing up across Australia in various rural mining towns, Brooke is passionate about providing quality healthcare to these communities. Through medical school she has undertaken placements across rural Queensland and aims to become a rural generalist in the future.
